Ruby Team w/ Maori in 1901. In New Zealand, before the europeans arrived in New Zealand, the Maori played a ball game called ki--o-rahi. This eventually evolved into the modern day sport of rugby on New Zealand. In 1892, The New Zealnd Rugby Football Union was established acting as a governing body of the sport on the island. Geil photographed the some of this genesis of the sport in NZ in 1901.
