Summary A biography of Layle Lane (1898 - 1976), who was an educator,a social activist and a political leader. For a 30 year period spaning the decades of the 1930's to the 1950's, she owned and managed a 30 acre camp, known as La Citadelle, for underprivileged boys located in New Britain, Pa ( near 'Our Lady of Czestochowa') The author, Professor Leonard Bethel, a retired professor at Rutgers University, was a councelor at the camp. At the time of this writing, Professor Bethel lives on the former site of the camp.
